University of Economics in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite for an open lecture by Prof Steven Keen. Lecture Classical economics: false paradigm shall take place on 29 September 2017 (Friday) at 16.30, room 301A, in the building of University of Economics in Poznań at al. Niepodległości 10.
Neoclassical economics paradigm dominates both the creation of economic policy and academic teaching. During the lecture, professor Keen shall carry out a critical analysis of this paradigm and explain why mainstream economists were unable to foresee the last economic crisis. He shall also indicate why this crisis was unavoidable and what should be done to limit the impact of subsequent crises.
Prof. Steven Keen is a world-famous economist of Australian origin. He combines his academic career with journalistic activities - he is an active and recognizable participant of public debates held in different media. He has a solid track record of a few dozen publications and scientific speeches. Apart from scientific speeches, Prof. S. Keen often gives comments and interviews in the English mass media as a global economics, financial crisis and current political events expert. In 2016, he was part of a cycle of interviews HARDtalk! by Stephen Sackura in BBC.
For the purpose of conducted business studies, Prof. S. Keen designed a computer program Minsky increasingly used by macroeconomists.
