The Faculty of Chemistry of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and the City of Poznan sincerely invite to the open lecture given by Doctor Stefan Wuttke "The Material Gap". The lecture will be held on 11 April, at 10 AM, in the Meeting Hall of the Faculty of Chemistry (2.57) at the Morasko Campus (Collegium Chemicum, ul. Umultowska 89b).
Stefan Wuttke received his Ph.D. in chemistry in 2009 at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Since 2011 he has been managing research teams at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Munich (LMU, Germany), the Nanoscience Centre (CeNS, Munich, Germany), and the University of Lincoln (UK). During his academic career, he completed foreign internships at the University of Caen (France), Glasgow (Scotland), and Berkeley (USA). Currently, he is one of the editors of the prestigious Advanced Functional Materials journal.
Mr. Wuttke deals with the synthesis and functionalization of advanced nanomaterials with strictly designed physicochemical properties including, in particular, the developed porous structure and defined surface activity. These are the parameters that determine their use among others in diagnosing and treatment of cancers as carriers of active pharmaceutical substances, optical sensors or photosensitizers. He is also passionate about teaching, constantly encouraging his students to discover unknown aspects of science. So far he has conducted over 60 lectures upon invitation from world-renowned scientific centres.
