Žarko Paić is a professor at the Faculty of Textile Technology of the University of Zagreb - School of Fashion Design; he teaches in sociology of culture, aesthetics, fashion theory, semiotics, and visual communication. Žarko Paić is the editor-in-chief of Tvrđa, a magazine dedicated to theory of culture and visual arts, as well as the deputy editor-in-chief of Europski glasnik, editor of Art-e-fact, a magazine on visual arts, a member of the international scientific council of IMAGES: Journal for Visual Studies, as well as philosophical journals - Phainomena and Apokalipsa (Ljubljana, Slovenia). Žarko Paić is also the winner of the international prize for literature authors from Central Europe awarded by the Austrian publishing house Kulturkontakt in Vienna for 2008.

He teaches seminars in: Visual Communication and Image Theory on doctor studies in cultural studies at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek and Digital Aesthetics on doctor studies in literature, stage arts, film, and culture at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb; He publishes in the fields of philosophy, sociology, political science, and studies in the area of art and aesthetics theory, but also poetry and literary essays - his poems are included in three anthologies of modern Croatian poetry. His scientific and literary works are published in periodicals and collective works published in English, French, German, Slovenian, Hungarian, Romanian, and Slovak.
Žarko Paić is also the winner of the international prize for literature authors from Central Europe awarded by the Austrian publishing house Kulturkontakt in Vienna for 2008; member of the Croatian Writers' Association, PEN-Club Croatia, the Croatian Philosophical Society and Association for the Advancement of Philosophy, as well as the Kierkegaard Institute and the Institute for European and Globalization Studies in Zagreb; he leads a research project: Image Science: Visualisation and Contemporary Art at the Center for Visual Studies in Zagreb.
