Faculty of Biology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite you to an open lecture by Prof. Edmund Sonuga-Barke titled "The impact of extreme neglect in early childhood on the development of the nervous system", which will be held on September 9, 2022 at 3:15 pm. The lecture will take place in the the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Adam Mickiewicz University, ul. Uniwersytetu Poznańskiego 8.

Prof. Edmund Sonuga is the Professor of developmental psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience at the Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience, King's College London and an editor-in-chief of the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry. Motivated by his own experience of growing up with learning disabilities, his research focuses on supporting children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders. The aim of his work is to develop new interventions by using approaches from the field of human development science to study genetic and environmental sources of risk and immunity, as well as neurobiological mechanisms mediating them. He was elected a member of prestigious scientific societies: Academy of Medical Sciences (2016) and Fellow of The British Academy (2018). Because of the importance of his research, Edmund Sonuga-Barke was included in Clarivate's list as one of the "most influential" psychologists/psychiatrists.
