The Faculty of Instrumental Music and the Faculty of Composition of the I.J. Paderewski Music Academy in Poznań and the City of Poznań would like to invite you to a lecture and a concert " Secrets of la Scala, not just for musicians". Outstanding artists: Beatrice Benzi (piano) and Danilo Rossi (viola) will be talking about the world's most famous opera theatre - and their work. The event will take place on 1 June at 4:00 p.m. in the Presidential Hall of the Music Academy at Święty Marcin 87.
BEATRICE BENZI - Beatrice Benzi graduated from the Milan Conservatory of Music under the direction of Bruno Canino and Luigi Zanardi. It was these professors who awakened in her a particular interest in the role of the pianist in the chamber - as well as song and opera - repertoire. She honed her skills with Bruna Canino and also with Michel Campanelli (Accademia Chigiana in Siena).
In 1991, she began working at the Teatro alla Scala, where she now serves as supervisor of tutor pianists, taking part in countless concert tours and projects alongside such eminent conductors as Riccardo Muti, Riccardo Chailly, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Jeffrey Tate, James Conlon, Valery Gerghiev, Zubin Mehta, Myung Wung Chung and Fabio Luisi.
She has performed in the world's most important concert halls with outstanding singers such as Gregory Kunde, John Osborn, Chris Merritt, Marcello Giordani and Francisco Gatell.
A long-standing collaboration with maestro Zubin Mehta resulted in contracts with the Palau de les Arts in Valencia and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv. Beatrice Benzi was also involved in the preparation of the TV version of 'Rigoletto', recorded in Mantua with Placido Domingo, Rugger Raimondi and Vittorio Grigol.
Along with maestro Riccard Chailly, she took part in numerous opera productions of La Scala and in some recordings for the Decca label, including Rossini cantatas featuring Cecilia Bartoli, 'A Turk in Italy' with Mariella Devia and Luciano Pavarotti's Greatest Hits album.
She has taught at the University of Nevada for many years. She has given numerous masterclasses, including for the Premiere Opera Foundation and the Liederkranz Foundation in New York, as well as for conservatories in Bologna and Catania.
