University of Economics in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite for to open lecture entitled Credit Market Bubbles and the Benign Credit Cycle, which will be delivered by Prof. Edward I. Altman. The lecture will take place on Friday 15 April 2016 at 2 pm in room 111A, at Niepodległości Ave. 10.
Professor Edward I. Altman is a world-known authority in the field of finance, risk management and financial markets. The most important area of Professor's research is the risk of bankruptcy in the operations of businesses - including the use of quantitative methods for predicting bankruptcy - and managing business during a crisis and restructuring.

The activity of Professor was appreciated worldwide. He was awarded many prizes and honorary titles. Among others, in 2005, in recognition of Professor's achievements in the field of science and business practice, the Treasury & Risk Management journal included him among "100 Most Influential People in Finance".
Professor Edward I. Altman is a world known authority in the field of finance, risk management and financial markets. Professor Altman's scientific achievements are extremely extensive and diverse. The most important area of Professor's research is the risk of bankruptcy in the operations of businesses - including the use of quantitative methods for predicting bankruptcy - and managing business during a crisis and restructuring. Drawn up by Prof. E. Altman in 1968, the so-called Z-score model permanently entered the standards of teaching corporate finance worldwide, and the accuracy of its indications is until today a point of reference for others models, prepared for the purpose of predicting bankruptcy.
Among other issues that were the subject of study by Professor E. Altman, one should mention in particular: processes of restructuring companies threatened with bankruptcy, the behaviour of prices and rates of return on the shares of companies threatened with bankruptcy, the profitability of investments in the shares of companies threatened with bankruptcy, macroeconomic factors affecting the intensity of bankruptcy processes in the American economy, the reactions of financial markets to the deteriorating financial condition of companies.
