Aapo Häkkinen is a distinguished and respected harpsichordist and clavichordist with an impressive artistic history. He is the winner of the second prize at the International Harpsichord Competition in Bruges (1998) and the Musikpreis Norddeutscher Rundfunk (1997) for his interpretation of Italian music. He performs as a soloist all over the world (in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Turkey, Israel, Georgia, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, China, Korea, and Vietnam).
An acclaimed musician - a chamber musician and a conductor, invited to work with ensembles and orchestras all around the world. Häkkinen records for prestigious recording labels: Aeolus, Alba, Avie, BelAir, Brilliant Classics, Cantus, Deux-Elles, Naxos, Ondine. He has made numerous radio and television recordings.
Lecturer at the Sibelius Academy, the European Fortepiano Academy, and numerous master classes (Tokyo University of Arts, Universidad Nacional de México, Kulturstiftung Marienmünster, Bratislava, Hamburg, Sofia, Tallinn, Tampere, Turku, Zagreb Academies of Music). Artistic director of the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, the Helsinki Musiikkitalo Early Music Series, and the Janakkala Baroque Festival.
