The City of Poznań and the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań invite to an open lecture "The artist in the contemporary world" delivered by Maestro Patrick Gallois - world-renowned flutist and conductor. The lecture will be held on 21 February 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aula Nova Concert Hall of the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, at 87 Święty Marcin Street.
Maestro Patrick Gallois is one of the best flutists in the world.
At the age of 19, he graduated with distinction the solo studies at Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris tutored by the legendary Jean-Pierr Rampal and Maxence Larieu. Immediately after his graduation, he became a soloist in the Lille orchestra, and in the years 1977-1984, he was the first flutist in the orchestra of the Paris Opera.
His career as a soloist and a conductor developed rapidly. In 1990, he founded his own orchestra, Académe de Paris, and has since given regular concerts as a solo flutist and a conductor all over the world.
In 1991, he signed an exclusive contract with the Deutsche Grammophon record company, which helped him to gain international fame. The artist recorded ten compact discs with this company, and then started cooperation with a French record company Naxos, together with which he published e.g. C. P. E. Bach complete flute concertos.
Parallel to his artistic activity, he also works as a pedagogue, conducting flute classes in Paris and Toronto and running each year a dozen master courses all over the world.
In 2003, Patrick Gallois became the artistic director of the Jyväskylä Symphony Orchestra (Finland). He performed with orchestra all over Europe and Asia.
