Adam Mickiewicz University and the City of Poznań wish to invite you to an open lecture delivered by prof. Meenakshi Bharat from the University of Delhi (India). The lecture (provided in English), entitled "India: Many Languages/Diverse Cultures" will be held on April 20th 2018 (Friday) at 12am until 1pm in Room C1 of Collegium Novum, aleja Niepodległości 4 in Poznan.
Meenakshi Bharat is a professor at Sri Venkateswara College of the University in Delhi since 1985. She got her education at the University in Delhi (B.A.), Madras (M.A. and M. Phil.) and the Jawaharlala Nehru University, where she received the PhD title in human sciences. In the years 2011-2014 she was the vice-president of the International Federation for Modern Languages and Literatures (FILLM) and since 2014 she is its honorary president. Bharat is also associated with the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (ICPHS) within UNESCO and she is an executive member of the Indian Association for the Study of Australia, where she held the function of a treasurer in the years 2012-2016, as well.
She is the editor of The IACLALS Journal and The South Asian Review. Besides, Bharat is part of the Indian Association of Commonwealth Literatures and Languages (IACLALS), International Research Society for Children's Literature (IRSCL) and the Association of British Scholars (ABS). Meenakshi Bharat is the author of numerous monographs and scientific articles, published by renowned publishing houses across the world, including Routledge.
Beyond her proprietary publications, she also had her shares in the works of editorial offices of Encyclopedia of Post-Colonial Literatures in English (Routledge), Cambridge Guide to Children's Books in English (Cambridge Press) and Who's who in Contemporary Women's Writing (Routledge). Her reviews were published by the most important Indian journals, like The Hindustan Times and The Pioneer as well as literature magazines, for example The Indian Book Review. In addition to scientific publications, Bharat is also an author of literary texts, mainly short stories. In recognition of her academic work, Bharat received state and international scholarships.
