The Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University and the City of Poznań invite you to an open lecture which will be delivered by professor Bruno Simma, a worldwide recognised authority in the field of international public law, author of numerous publications. Professor Simma is co-author and co-editor of the European Journal of International Law and long-term head of Institute of International Public Law at the University of Munich.
The lecture entitled "THE FUTURE OFARBITRATION IN INTERNATIONAL LAW" will take place on 15th December at 3:30 PM in Aula Profesora Zygmunta Ziembińskiego, Faculty of Law and Administration, Collegium Iuridicum Novum, Al. Niepodległości 53.
The lecture of Professor Simma will start a series of lectures in memory of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski, former professor of the Faculty of Law and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
Professor Bruno Simma is a worldwide recognised authority in the field of International Public Law, author of numerous publications. The particularly important include: comment on Charter of the United Nations unique worldwide, or "Universal International Law" repeatedly reissued manual used in many countries of the world. He is also the author of many expert studies on international institutions and procedures in the field of public and international law. His publications include, e.g.:

Professor Simma performs numerous international functions - he is a judge of International Court of Arbitration "Iran-USA" or an ad hoc judge of International Court of Justice. In the years 1987-1996 he was a member of UN Committee of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and in the years 2003-2012 - a judge of International Court of Justice. In addition, he is professor of global law at law school of the university of Michigan, Ann Arbor in the USA, member of the International Law Institute and the first president of the European Society of International Law.
Professor Simma was a person closely related to Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski, former professor of the Faculty of Law and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. The areas of his cooperation with Poland, including with professor Skubiszewski, include cooperation of Polish and German lawyers - including the meeting of lawyers of the public law organised every two years since 1972, in which both professors regularly participated, or International Court of Justice - prof. Skubiszewski was an ad hoc judge in this Court, whereas prof. Simma was a judge. Both professors cooperated as members of the International Law Institute, the most elite organisation of international law on the global scale. Professor Simma was a rapporteur of International Conference dedicated to achievements of Professor Skubiszewski, organised by Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London in 2013.
Apart from the open lecture, professor Simma while staying in Poznań will conduct a scientific seminar for students, doctoral candidates and employees on problems of contemporary Europe and World. Plans also include a scientific discussion with Employees of the Institute of International Law and International Organisations.
