The Faculty of English at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite you to an open lecture conducted by Prof. Dagmar Divjak, entitled "Towards a computational turn in usage-based linguistics: The case of Polish aspect". The lecture will be held on November 8 at 11:30 a.m. in the Upper Hall of the Collegium Heliodori Święcicki, ul. Grunwaldzka 6 in Poznań.
Professor Dagmar Divjak from the University of Birmingham is a respected linguist specializing in empirical research - both corpus and experimental - on language, it's acquisition, and cognition. Such research not only helps to better understand the structure of the language and the mechanisms governing it, but can also help to make the process of learning a foreign language a more natural and satisfying experience. Professor Divjak holds a PhD from the University of Leuven in Belgium, which is one of the leading research centers in cognitive linguistics and quantitative methods in corpus linguistics. Professor Divjak had the opportunity to deepen her experience in the field during postdoctoral fellowships in the United States (UNC - Chapel Hill) and in Sweden (Stockholm University). Professor Divjak is the author and editor of several monographs published in top-class publishing houses such as Cambridge University Press or De Gruyter. Additionally, she is the editor-in-chief of the highly acclaimed journal Cognitive Linguistics, as well as the co-editor of the series of monographs Cognitive Linguistic Research in the De Gruyter publishing house
