Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite you to two open lectures by Prof. Richard Gwilt:
- lecture entitled "Short history of the Baroque violin" will take place on December 13 at 5:00 p.m. in the Presidential Hall of the Music Academy
- lecture entitled "What is a "baroque" violin bow? A study taking into account changes in form, features, technique and performance in the Baroque era " will be held on December 14 at 12:30 in the Presidential Hall of the Music Academy.
Richard Gwilt - baroque violinist, lecturer, artistic director, composer, researcher, editor, string builder. Born and educated in Edinburgh, he graduated from the University of Birmingham (UK) and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA). He studied violin with Lucy Cowan (International Cello Centre), Orrea Pernel and Jakob Krachmalnicki. During his stay in the United States in 1981, he began playing the baroque violin, and since his return to Europe in 1983, he has been exclusively engaged in historical performance. He collaborated with many prominent English orchestras dealing with historical performance, but became famous mainly as a chamber musician. After 30 years of intense concerts, trips and recording with the world-famous London Baroque ensemble, prof. Gwilt now focused on teaching, and making strings. Since 2005, he has been professor of the Baroque violin and viola class at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
