Honoris causa doctorate for professor Reinhard Lührmann

Professor Reinhard Lührmann was born on May 15, 1949 in Osnabrück, Germany. His research concerns the structure and function of ribonucleic acid (RNA) molecules. As was explained in the laudatio speech by prof. Artur Jarmołowski, RNA molecules play a key role in the cellular process of reading genetic information stored in DNA.
Professor Reinhard Lürhmann has published nearly 350 scientific articles, he is the author of numerous monographs and textbooks. His work regularly appears in the best scientific journals such as "Nature", "Science", "Cell", "Molecular Cell", "Nature Structural and Molecular Biology", "Genes and Development" and many others. Professor is widely recognized as one of the most outstanding scientists involved in pre-mRNA maturation.
