Summary conference - Poznań, 18 June 2015

Summary conference, which took place in the White Room at the Poznań's City Hall, enjoyed extensive interest.

The conference, which presented the Polish and German experiences as well as the project results, was attended by the representatives of the majority of Poznań-based kindergartens interested in implementing the project method, over 150 persons in total.

Through their involvement in the project, kindergartens decided to improve their understanding of the project approach and to learn new strategies and ways to support active learning in children. Project method is a method of teaching children, which enables them to actively gain knowledge about the world and use it in practice. It is learning by acting and following your natural curiosity. During the project, children from kindergartens conducted research projects in the topics selected by them, related to their own experiences and their surroundings. During the research project, children posed questions, looked for answers, formulated hypotheses, created their own definitions of the reality surrounding them, verified their assumptions, ordered and consolidated the newly-gained knowledge. Examples of such actions include projects implemented during the conference regarding: the City Hall:

- Municipal Guards - by learning what the guards do;

- City Hall's departments - by verifying what they know about the work of clerks;

- office of the City Hall - by learning about the architecture and history of the building.

The conference was also a perfect opportunity to present a handbook entitled "SMALL CHILDREN DISCOVER THE WORLD" ("MAŁE DZIECI ODKRYWAJĄ ŚWIAT"), which is a summary of the experiences gained during the Polish-German YALE project.
