Tramway
Tramways are by far the fastest means of transport. At present, eighteen regular and one nigh line are available in Poznań (the night tram runs on the PST line - Poznań Fast Tram line).
Time tickets (tickets valid for a certain period of time, e.g.: 15 min.) are the applied payment form for tramway rides. This allows passengers to change a line without any need to punch a new ticket (unless they have exceeded the permitted ride time). The ride start time is printed on the ticket by the ticket puncher. Tickets for 15, 30 and 60 minutes are available at sales.
A 24h or weekly ticket is the best solution for long travels round the city or for persons staying in Poznań for several days.
Discount tickets and standard tickets differ in colour and printed inscription (N or U - Normal or Discount). Persons not entitled to any discounts cannot use discount tickets, therefore two discount tickets do not correspond to a standard one.
Bus
There are 52 bus lines in Poznań with numbers from 47 to 99. In addition, "A" fast line and "L" express line (going from main railway station to the airport), as well as 22 night lines with numbers from 231 to 252 are also available to passengers. Night lines run from 11 p.m.to 5.00 a.m.
All night lines go through Rondo Kaponiera (roundabout in the city centre). Owing to this, passengers can change buses without any problems. Buses leave Kaponiera approximately every half hour.
Buses get stuck in traffic jams more frequently, therefore apart from the time ticket system bus commuters can also avail of a bus stop system. Under the system, the passenger buys a ticket covering the fare for a specified distance measured in the number of bus stops. Bus stop number is printed on the ticket by a ticket puncher. Passengers using bus stop tickets are not allowed to change buses. Both the time and bus stop ticket price doubles on fast and seasonal lines.
Municipal transport information point is located in the railway station main hall. It provides all information on connections, timetables, tariffs, luggage transport and on any other city - related issues.
