On May 23-24 in Poznań, the product and technology company SOFTSWISS together with Poznań Smart City will hold a hackathon for students and young IT professionals. It will be a team competition in which participants will think creatively on ideas for the city.

At the end of participation in the hackathon, each team will present its project. The winner, whose idea will receive the most interest and receive the highest rating from a professional jury, will receive a prize of PLN 10,000 from the organizers. Second place is valued at PLN 7,500, and third place at PLN 5,000.

Students from technical universities and professionals with technical backgrounds up to the age of 35 were invited to try their hand at the hackathon. All you need to do is assemble a team of 2-5 people and leave your application on the hackathon website.

According to the rules of the hackathon, each team will have equally 24 hours to develop their idea. The theme of the event will be ecology. As a task, participants will have to present their solutions for creating an online platform for garbage segregation.

The platform needs to be designed in such a way that an interactive and educational project with useful content comes out, where visitors will learn everything about the rules of household waste segregation, garbage collection schedules by municipal services and other activities on this topic. What to fill the platform with, how to make it original and useful for city residents - this is what the participants' task will be.

During the brainstorming process, each team will be able to receive mentoring help from Ruby programmers from SOFTSWISS and Smart City Poznań specialists, who are involved in environmental education in the field of household waste and developing and implementing solutions for the city.

Each hackathon participant will be able to visit the CEE Congress & Metropolitan IT Summit conference for free, where the award ceremony for the winners will be held.
