The Faculty of Architecture at the Poznań University of Technology and the City of Poznań invite you to an open lecture held by Dr. Beate Störtkuhl, titled "Protection of cultural property during World War I in the Polish territories - results of historical research in the face of current challenges in Ukraine". The lecture will take place on May 31, 2023 at. 2:00 p.m. in hall 001 at the Faculty of Architecture, Jacek Rychlewski Street 2.
PD Dr. hab. Beate Störtkuhl is an art historian, researcher and scientific coordinator at the Bundesistitut für Kultur und Geschichte der Deutschen im östlichen Europa (BKGE) and associate professor at Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg. She is Chair of Scientific Councils, including Boeckler Mare Balticum-Stiftung, and member of the editorial committees: Acta Universitatis Nicolai Copernici. Monuments and Conservation, Art History Bulletin (PAN), Journal für Kultur und Geschichte der Deutschen im östlichen Europa/ Journal for Culture and History of the Germans in Eastern Europe.
An important area of her research is architecture in Silesia, as evidenced by the long-standing cooperation with the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław and, above all, the publication Moderne Architektur in Schlesien 1900 bis 1939. The topic of the open lecture is related to the research conducted as part of the international research project Kunstschutz im Ersten Weltkrieg und die Historiographie von Kunst und Kultur in Ostmitteleuropa in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Akteure - Netzwerke -Konzepte/ Kunstschutz.
For her activity in promoting German-Polish cooperation, she was awarded the 2022 Cultural Award of Silesia and the State of Lower Saxony.
