Daniel T. Gryko obtained his PhD in Chemical Sciences in 1997 at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences under the supervision of prof. Janusz Jurczak. Before commencing independent research at the ICHO PAN, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the North Carolina State University (1998-2000) in the team of prof. Jonathan Lindsey. He obtained the academic title of a full professor in 2008. In the same year, he was awarded the prize of young scientists by the Society of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines. In 2010-2014, he headed the research team at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology. He is the winner of 10 Polish scientific awards. In 2017, he was awarded with an award for an outstanding scientific achievement by the Foundation for the Polish Science. In 2014, he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit awarded to distinguished employees of the Institute. He is a laureate of, inter alia: Team Grant (2010), Maestro (2013) and the Professor's Grant MASTER (2014). His scientific interests are mainly related to the synthesis of the porphyrinoids and functional dyes, as well as studies related to the two-photon absorption, artificial photosynthesis and proton transfer in an excited state. He has promoted 21 doctors of chemical sciences. He is the author of about 300 scientific publications and a co-author of 10 patent applications.
