Poznan University of Medical Sciences and the City of Poznan invite to an open lecture by Professor Roman Lesyk. The lecture under the title Lviv - a city of four cultures and their influence over the development of science (lecture in Polish) will take place on May 26, 2017 (Friday), at 5:30 pm in the Congress-Didactic Centre of the Karol Marcinkowski Poznan University of Medical Sciences, in Hall C, at 37a Przybyszewskiego Street.
Roman Lesyk is a professor of pharmaceutical sciences, director of the Department of Pharmaceutical, Organic, and Bioorganic Chemistry, former Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutics, and former Prorector of the Lviv National Medical University. He holds a high degree of specialization in the field of medical chemistry of thiazole, thiazolidine, and thiazolidone structures. He prepared a detailed elaboration of the relation structure - activity for compounds from the group of 4-azolidones, and indicated 3 structures leading in the search for anticancer drugs. He collaborates with numerous scientific centers in Europe and North America. The Department managed by Professor R. Lesyk produced and forwarded for further examination a joint amount of 174 compounds which are leading structures for varied groups of drugs. The employees of the Department are authors of 30 patents. Five substances described by them were exploited in treatment procedures (pentabismolum, dimexid, diamiphen, fluorenizide, thiotriazoline).
