The Poznań University of Technology and the City of Poznań invite to an open lecture, which will be delivered by an outstanding mathematician and economist - professor Robert J. Aumann. Lecture entitled: Why Optimize? An Evolutionary Perspective, will be held on 5th July (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m. in the Earth Hall at the Poznań International Fair at ul. Głogowska 10.
Professor Aumann is a winner of the Noble Prize in Economics for applying game-theory to social sciences and microeconomics in the scope of individual's behaviour, co-operation and conflict resolution. Professor Aumann was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2005.
He graduated from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1955, where he obtained PhD in mathematics. Since 1956, he has been working at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (Department of Mathematics), where he obtained a title of professor in 1968. In 1990, professor Aumann established Center for the Study of Rationality at the Hebrew University.
This outstanding academic is also a member of: National Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, The British Academy, Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
He is an author and co-author of many books and approximately 90 academic works.
Professor Aumann was also a visiting professor at the following universities: Princeton University, Tel Aviv University, University of California in Berkley, Université Catholique de Louvain, Stanford University, Stony Brook University, New York University. He received honorary doctorates from the universities from Chicago, Bonn, Louvain, and from City University of New York and Bar Ilan University.
