Poznan University of Medical Sciences (PUMS) has been actively participating and carrying out the Erasmus + Programme ever since the year 2000.
Learning Mobility for OUTGOING Staff and Students
The overall objective of the Erasmus + Programme is to enhance the functioning of the educational sector through creating opportunities for both students and Academic Staff for self-growth, training and collaboration with European partners.
It envisions sending selected students and Staff members to partner Institutions and organisations, in order to develop their knowledge, skills and competence. It is divided into two sectors:
1. Student Mobility:
Student mobility allows a number of selected students to participate in the exchange programme. The aim of the programme primarily is to boost skills and employability, as well as modernise education and training. Students can enter into two types of exchange programmes:
a) Study abroad programme:
Students enter into this framework in order to spend a part of their degree abroad at a partner institution. The length of the exchange varies from one semester to a full academic year.
b) Traineeships:
Students enter into this framework in order to get practical knowledge at the partner institution. The length of the traineeship is minimum 60 days.
2. Staff Mobility:
Faculty members as well as other employees enter this framework, in order to boost their skills. It helps foster communication and cooperation among institutions and academia aimed at the advancement of knowledge, practical skills, European integration.
Poznan University of Medical Sciences Employees enter into this framework, in order to improve competences of the employees and help them broaden understanding of practices, policies and systems in education, increase their capacity to trigger changes in terms of modernisation within their educational organisations. This programme improves their management skills, reinforces cooperation with partners from other countries. Employees can enter into two types of exchange programmes:
a) As Teaching Staff:
Faculty members enter this framework, in order to carry out teaching at a partner institution
b) As trainees:
Employees enter into this framework, in order to get practical knowledge at a partner institution.

Incoming Erasmus Students can choose from across 4 different Study Programmes (organised by the Centre for Medical Education in English):
6-year M.D. Programme,
5-year D.D.S. Programme,
6-year Pharm. D. Programme,
3-year B.Sc. in Physiotherapy Programme.
Nursing students can take part in English language professional practical training.
Our University uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) for all courses in the above programmes.
Each year, PUMS welcomes over 50 international Erasmus exchange students (Incoming Students) and sends to partnering Universities around 75 students (Outgoing Students).
Additionally, we offer accommodation to all Incoming Erasmus Students at one of our University Accommodation Housing: Eskulap.

18 Years of Erasmus + Programme
Poznan University of Medical Sciences has been carrying out Erasmus + Programme for as long as 18 years, ever since the year 2000. So far, we have:
- Sent 1066 students to partnering Institutions (73 students in 2018/19)
- Welcomed 636 international students from partnering institutions (53 students in 2018/19)
- Sent 84 Staff members to carry out their traineeships or teaching mobilities (8 Staff members in 2018/19)
- Welcomed 43 International Academics and Administrative Staff members from partnering institutions (3 in 2018/19)
Additionally, we have also started a student exchange with countries outside of the European Union. In Academic Year 2018/2019 we have welcomed a student from Tbilisi, Georgia as well as a Staff member from the University of Kentucky (USA) and Nicoleae Testetmintanu University in Chisinau, Moldova. Next Academic Year (2019/20) we are expecting to welcome a student from the Divine University in Papua New Guinea. All in all, our Erasmus family has reached an impressive number of 1829 individuals.
