Park and Go parking lots
Construction of Park and Go parking lots aims to limit the number of vehicles entering the immediate city centre (from the west and the north delimited by a railroad line, from the east by the Warta River and from the south by two streets: ul. Towarowa and ul. Królowej Jadwigi). Car users should leave their vehicles at such parking lots and continue on their way on foot or by public transport.
Like in the case of cubature parking lots located within the downtown area of the city, the commissioning of new P&G facilities should be accompanied by the liquidation of (approximately) the same number of parking spaces on sidewalks or curbs in the surrounding area. In the immediate city centre, car traffic restrictions and unconditional priority for pedestrian and public transport will be imposed.
The modular parking system selected by the city allows cars to be moved with their engines turned off and therefore natural gas-fuelled vehicles can easily be parked there. Moreover, with the value of property connected to all utilities in cities soaring, modular parking systems have the advantage of being very compact in terms of the surface area they occupy. The number of modules used can be increased or reduced, as necessary.
Other features that make this solution so advisable are its automation, reduced electricity consumption compared with regular underground and above-ground parking lots, as well as security, since the parking lots do not allow for third-party access to parked vehicles.
