Central Asian Nomadic Jewellery: Exhibition guided in English
We are welcoming you to join us on Thursday October 5th at YES Gallery for a walkthrough of our current exhibition, Central Asian Nomadic Jewellery, in English.
At the event, you will have the opportunity to see and hear about ethnographic jewellery from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan from Maria Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz's private collection.
Central Asia is an often overlooked region, with a rich history rooted in nomadic customs and the influences of other cultures due its position along the Silk Road. Through observing jewellery, we can learn about the social values, religion, beliefs, and craftsmanship of the people from this region. On show, you will see impressive large-scale silver pieces, a variety of amulets, ceremonial headdresses, pieces adorned with carnelian and lapis lazuli, and much much more!
The exhibition is curated by Karolina Krzywicka, an art historian working at the Andrzej Wawrzyniak Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw.
The exhibition walkthrough will be guided in English by Lili Bargłowska, who is currently a jewellery design student at Central Saint Martins in London. At Yes Gallery, we aim to make our exhibitions accessible to anyone who has an interest or curiosity in jewellery. Therefore, we have made this event in English to recognize the international community of Poznań and encourage them to come and learn about our current exhibition.
We hope to see you there!
